“It’s Happening Today”

It’s always a good idea to make room for fresh ideas. Here’s one way we do that at Bonitasoft.

“I don’t have time for that.” “I’ll get to it later.” “We should work on it but it’s not a priority.” “I heard about this new technology and I’d like to learn about it but I can’t right now.”

I’m sure most of you have heard these cris du coeur from employees everywhere. It feels like time is always slipping away, there’s just never enough!

We’ve felt that too.

To give employees more time to work on a topic of their choosing, Bonitasoft implemented the “It’s Happening Today” monthly ritual. Every month, daily activities are put on hold for a day so that each person can dedicate their time to a specific project/topic that they choose.

This can be anything from learning a new skill, trying a new tool, working on a work-related project, gathering information on new technologies, and so on.

We’re not social distancing here — that’s because this photo was taken Before The Great CoVid Apocalypse. Now that we’re all working from home, many of us part time, we’re social distancing AND there’s more time to explore new tech and new ideas!

This initiative is an ideal framework for everyone to experiment and discover new things and/or express their talent. The day’s objectives are set by the employee and failure is welcomed because even if the hoped-for goals aren’t met, it was a learning experience.

That is what’s important. It’s how we advance in our careers, in our team work, and in our innovation!
